Germany – A daring robbery at a bank in Gelsenkirchen has shocked authorities and captured public attention. Police say thieves used a large drilling machine to access the bank’s vault, carrying out the crime in a style reminiscent of the Hollywood movie Ocean’s Eleven.
The stolen valuables are estimated at around 30 million euros, equivalent to 35 million US dollars or roughly 10 billion Pakistani rupees. The loot included cash, gold, and jewelry stored in over 3,000 safe deposit boxes.
Police confirmed the robbery was highly organized and executed with professional precision. According to a spokesperson, the crime went unnoticed until the bank’s fire alarm was triggered on Monday. By then, the thieves had already escaped.
Authorities are investigating the incident, but no arrests have been made so far. They are reviewing CCTV footage and collecting forensic evidence from the scene. Police urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in solving the case.
Local residents expressed shock at the scale of the robbery, noting that such an audacious heist is rarely seen in Germany. Bank officials said they are reviewing security measures and cooperating fully with law enforcement to prevent future incidents.
Experts say the use of a drill to bypass the vault highlights the growing sophistication of modern criminals. Authorities are now working to trace the stolen assets and identify the individuals behind the operation.
