Schools and colleges in Islamabad will be closed for two days

The Islamabad administration has issued an announcement stating that educational institutions and offices in the area will remain closed for a duration of two days, specifically on July 31 and August 1, which fall on Monday and Tuesday.

District Magistrate Irfan Nawaz Memon released a notification confirming the closure of all public and private schools, colleges, and universities on the specified dates.

Furthermore, the notification also includes the closure of all private entities, companies, markets, shops, and commercial banks during the same period.

The reason behind this decision is the upcoming visit of He Lifeng, the Vice Premier of China and Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, to Pakistan. He is scheduled to be in the country from July 30 to August 1, 2023.

The primary purpose of Vice Premier He’s visit is to participate in the 10th-anniversary celebrations of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He Lifeng, who is also a Special Envoy of President Xi Jinping, will have significant engagements during his stay, including meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Arif Alvi, as reported by the Foreign Office.

He Lifeng will be the guest of honor at an event commemorating a decade of CPEC, considering his instrumental role in China’s international economic relations and the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, with CPEC being a flagship project under this initiative, as highlighted by the Foreign Office.
