PTI Announces Punjab Shutter-Down Strike on 8th February 2026

LAHORE โ€” Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab has announced a shutter-down strike on 8th February 2026 as part of its ongoing protest campaign.

The partyโ€™s Chief Organizer for Punjab, Alia Hamza, issued a circular directing all regional presidents to submit detailed plans for street movements. The circular emphasizes that these plans must be provided within 24 hours.

According to the notice, PTI leadership will define strategies for the protest, including mobilization efforts and membersโ€™ responsibilities. The circular also warned that failure to submit the required plans could result in strict disciplinary action by the party leadership.

Earlier this month, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi clarified his position regarding PTI founder Imran Khan. Afridi stated that Imran Khan has not asked him to engage in talks with the establishment. However, he expressed his readiness to work with the establishment on provincial issues.

During informal discussions with senior journalists in Peshawar, Afridi noted that dialogue responsibilities have been assigned to Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas. He stressed that he has not been allowed to meet the PTI founder directly.

Afridi highlighted the importance of upholding the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law. He also called for an end to drone attacks and urged the government, establishment, and all stakeholders to develop policies that benefit the public.

The chief minister added that if any official ceremony or meeting occurs, he would meet Field Marshal Asim Munir, demonstrating his willingness to engage constructively with relevant authorities.
