The Punjab Sahulaat Bazaars Authority has completed free home delivery of more than 301,200 orders of essential food items across the province. This service was launched under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to support households facing rising prices.
The project marks Punjabโs first government-run free delivery service for daily food items. It operates through Punjab Sahulat Bazaars in 35 cities and 46 locations. Residents can now order groceries without paying any delivery charges.
Under the scheme, 13 basic food items are sold at subsidised rates. Prices are up to seven per cent lower than the official DC rates. This helps families note real savings on everyday essentials.
Citizens place orders using a dedicated mobile application. The app is available on both Android and iOS devices. PSBA riders then deliver the items directly to their homes.
Items available include potatoes, onions, tomatoes, garlic and pumpkins. Fruits such as apples, bananas, guava, dates and watermelon are also offered. Other essentials include chickpeas, gram flour, wheat flour and sugar.
Officials said the service has already helped people save around Rs110 million. Families also save travel time and fuel costs by ordering from home. This has made shopping easier for elderly citizens and working families.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the aim is to protect people from inflation. She announced that the scope of Punjab Sahulat Bazaars will be expanded gradually. More cities will be added in the coming months.
โWe will not allow inflation to burden our citizens,โ she said. She added that the free delivery service will continue to grow.
Authorities urged people to use the app and benefit from subsidised prices. They said the success of Punjab Sahulat Bazaars shows how technology can improve public services. The initiative is expected to play a key role in easing daily household expenses across Punjab.
