Schools reopen across Punjab today as students return to classrooms after the winter break. All public and private institutions have resumed academic activities from January 19. The move follows a 30-day winter vacation that began on December 20.
Provincial education officials confirmed there will be no further extension of holidays. Reports about another break were rejected by the Punjab School Education Department. Authorities said the decision was taken after a careful weather review.
Provincial Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat shared the update with the media. He said Schools reopen after consultations with the Environment Department.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority also reviewed temperature trends. Officials found conditions suitable for the safe return of students.
A formal notification has been issued with updated school hours. The revised schedule will remain in effect until April 15, 2026. These hours aim to protect students during cold mornings and fog.
Single-shift schools will run from Monday to Thursday, 10:00 am to 2:15 pm. On Fridays, classes will end earlier at 12:30 pm. Double-shift schools will follow a separate plan.
The morning shift will operate from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The afternoon shift will run from 2:15 pm to 4:45 pm. Schools reopen under this new timetable to ensure smooth learning.
Teachers will attend school on Saturdays as well. These days will be used for training and lesson planning. The focus will be on improving teaching quality and student outcomes.
Education officials said the revised hours will support a better learning environment. They also help teachers prepare lessons more effectively. Students and parents have been asked to follow the new schedule strictly.
The department said Schools reopen with a clear plan for safety and learning. Cold weather and fog were key factors in setting the new timings. Officials will continue to monitor conditions across the province.
With classes resuming, schools are expected to return to full academic pace. Authorities hope the new schedule will reduce disruptions this winter. Parents have welcomed the clear guidance from the education department.
