Punjab and Sindh police have launched a joint operation targeting bandits in the Katcha area, officials confirmed. The operation focuses on Machhka at the edge of Punjab and Rownti forest in Sindh.
Authorities said that several bandits fled after drone strikes destroyed many of their hideouts. Police confirmed that 44 bandits surrendered under the departmentโs surrender policy, handing over their weapons in exchange for cash incentives.
โThe joint operation will continue until all bandit gangs are cleared and law and order is restored in the Katcha area,โ police officials stated. Intelligence-based planning has been central to the efforts, according to Sindh Police Chief IG Javed Alam Odho.
IG Odho emphasized the cooperation with Punjab Police. โPunjab Police will assist us to resolve the bandit issue permanently,โ he said. He added that surrendering bandits will have the chance to survive, seek relief from courts, and receive compensation for their weapons. Those who refuse to surrender will be confronted firmly.
Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar confirmed the operation is part of a broader plan targeting notorious dacoits in Kashmore and Ghotki districts. He stressed that no outlaws would be allowed to escape action. Bandits willing to surrender will be given an opportunity to do so under safe conditions.
The recent joint operation highlights coordination between Sindh and Punjab police to tackle criminal gangs operating across provincial borders. Authorities are also pursuing facilitators who support the bandit networks.
Police officials assured the public that the operation will continue until the Katcha region is cleared of all armed gangs. โWe are committed to permanent solutions and ensuring the safety of citizens in the affected areas,โ IG Odho said.
This initiative reflects growing inter-provincial cooperation to restore law and order in areas long plagued by criminal activity. The authorities hope that continued enforcement, along with surrender policies, will weaken the influence of bandit gangs and prevent future crimes.
The ongoing joint operation is being closely monitored, with the aim of completely uprooting bandit networks and providing long-term security to the residents of Katcha areas in both Punjab and Sindh.
