The Rawalpindi Board has announced a new hike in examination fees, affecting matric and intermediate students across the region. The move has raised concerns among parents and students, particularly those from middle and low-income families.
According to the official circular, several new charges have been introduced. A CCTV monitoring fee of Rs30 will be applied for exam supervision. Additionally, a miscellaneous fee of Rs900 per student has been added, while certificate fees have risen from Rs550 to Rs1,000.
Students will also be required to pay Rs350 as development charges and Rs300 for postal expenses. The scholarship fee has been set at Rs250. The Rawalpindi Board stated that these charges are necessary to cover administrative costs and enhance exam facilities.
Parents have expressed concern over the rising financial burden on students. Many fear that the increased fees may limit access to education for underprivileged families. “It is becoming harder for students from low-income households to afford exams,” said one parent.
Rawalpindi Board emphasized that the revised fee structure will be applicable from the upcoming examination cycle. Schools and colleges have been instructed to inform students about the updated charges and ensure timely collection.
Experts believe that while additional fees may help improve examination management and infrastructure, authorities should consider measures to support financially vulnerable students. Scholarships and fee waivers could help balance quality education with affordability.
Students are advised to check the official notification issued by the Rawalpindi Board for a detailed breakdown of all fees. The board has asked institutions to guide students on the correct payment process to avoid confusion during registrations.
