Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi said the final decision on Pakistan’s participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup will be taken by the government. He made these remarks during a press conference held on Saturday.
Naqvi said the PCB is fully prepared for all possible outcomes once the International Cricket Council makes its announcement. However, he stressed that the board will follow the direction given by the government. He added that no country has the right to impose its decisions on another.
He explained that Pakistan has its own stance on the issue. The PCB will stand by that position. Whether Pakistan takes part in the T20 World Cup or not will depend on official government approval.
Naqvi also addressed reports about a fraud case involving some players. He said no player has contacted the board so far. The PCB will review the matter once the players share their statements. A decision will be made after proper discussion.
The PCB chairman said the board is currently waiting for the Prime Minister to return to the country. He said major decisions will be taken after that. He added that actions taken by one nation should not affect others.
Naqvi also commented on the situation involving Bangladesh. He said Bangladesh is being treated unfairly. He stressed that Bangladesh should remain part of the T20 World Cup under all circumstances. According to him, sports should remain separate from political issues.
He further said the PCB remains answerable to the government beyond the ICC. This means national interests will always be given priority. The board will not take any major step without official guidance.
Naqvi also shared updates on domestic cricket development. He said the PCB is working closely with the Punjab government. Several stadiums are being upgraded to improve facilities.
He confirmed that improvements will include better seating, lighting, and training areas. These upgrades aim to meet international standards and support future global events in Pakistan.

Naqvi said these efforts reflect the PCB’s long-term planning. Even with uncertainty around the T20 World Cup, the board continues to focus on infrastructure and player development. He added that strengthening domestic facilities will help Pakistan host more international matches in the future.
