The Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA) has announced that all Fard Baraye Bay documents must now include the buyer’s name and CNIC number. The move aims to make land transactions more secure and transparent.
In a statement shared on social media, the PLRA said the new requirement will clearly identify the intended buyer on the Fard Baraye Bay, reducing the risk of fraud and duplication. Officials said the reform ensures that each land transaction is accurately recorded from the beginning.
A Fard Baraye Bay is a legal document issued by a patwari or land record center to confirm land ownership. It is used specifically for selling property and verifies that the land has no legal disputes or outstanding liabilities. The document facilitates a smooth transfer of ownership to the buyer.
The PLRA highlighted several benefits of the new measure:
- Prevention of fraud: Stops multiple Fard Baraye Bay documents from being issued for the same land.
- Authentic records: Buyer-specific documentation verified through CNIC.
- Greater transparency: Links land records directly to the buyer.
- Reduction of Patwari manipulation: Prevents forgery and paperwork tampering.
- Online verification: Fard Baraye Bay can now be verified immediately on the Punjab Land Records Portal.
- Investor protection: Ensures safe land investments for citizens.
Officials said the reform is part of the Punjab government’s broader effort to modernize land records and protect citizens from fraudulent property dealings. The initiative will also create a reliable digital trail, making it easier to track and verify land transactions.
The PLRA urged buyers and sellers to comply with the updated regulations and verify that all Fard Baraye Bay documents include the required details. Authorities emphasized that the measure strengthens trust in the real estate sector and prevents misuse of land records.
This step is expected to curb illegal practices in land dealings and make property transactions more transparent for investors across Punjab.
