The UAE Fatwa Council has officially announced the amounts for Fitrana and Fidyah for Ramadan 2026, following a field price study in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism. The announcement provides clear guidelines for Muslims across the UAE on how much to give during the holy month to support those in need.
For Fitrana, the council has set the amount at 2.5 kilograms of rice per person, or its cash equivalent of 25 AED. The council stressed that Fitrana is obligatory for every capable Muslim, male or female, and it can be paid anytime from the start of Ramadan until just before the Eid prayer. This charity is intended to assist the less fortunate and ensure that everyone can participate in Eid celebrations.
Fidyah, which applies to individuals who are unable to fast due to illness or other valid reasons, has been fixed at 3.25 kilograms of wheat per day or 20 AED in cash. This amount should be given to a needy person for each day a fast is missed. In cases where a fast is intentionally invalidated, a penalty of 1,200 AED will be required, which will be distributed among 60 needy individuals. Separate fines apply to violations during Hajj or Umrah, with a 120 AED penalty to be divided among six people in need.
The Fatwa Council also set the minimum cost for providing one Iftar meal at 20 AED. Officials encouraged the public to make their payments through recognized charity organizations, including the Zakat Fund, Emirates Red Crescent, and other approved institutions in the UAE. By donating through official channels, individuals ensure that the charity reaches those who need it most.
The council emphasized that fulfilling these obligations during Ramadan 2026 is not only a religious duty but also a way to strengthen community support. Early payment is encouraged to allow beneficiaries to receive aid on time.
