Aseefa Bhutto Attends 2026 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity Majlis in Abu Dhabi

Aseefa Bhutto, First Lady of Pakistan and Member of the National Assembly, took part in the 2026 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity Majlis in Abu Dhabi. She attended the event on the invitation of the United Arab Emirates government.

The Majlis is an important gathering in the annual calendar of the Zayed Award. It reflects the UAE’s commitment to dialogue, compassion, and peaceful coexistence. Each year, the event brings together global leaders, thinkers, and social figures to discuss shared human values.

This year’s Majlis was held under the theme “Year of the Family.” The theme followed the vision of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. It focused on the idea that strong families are the foundation of stable and prosperous societies.

Aseefa Bhutto joined a high-level panel titled “Female Leadership at the Heart of Human Fraternity.” The session included several prominent women leaders from different countries. Mina Al-Oraibi, Editor-in-Chief of The National, moderated the discussion. Speakers shared experiences about inclusive leadership and the role of families in building peaceful communities.

During her remarks, Aseefa Bhutto spoke about the legacy of her mother, former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. She said trust in public institutions grows through listening and community engagement. She highlighted Pakistan’s Lady Health Workers Programme as a strong example. The programme connects the state with families through local female health workers.

Aseefa Bhutto explained that these workers understand local cultures and speak the same language as the communities. They help deliver healthcare, promote vaccination, and build trust at the household level. She said recent campaigns, including HPV outreach and the national polio drive, showed the importance of empathy and communication.

She also stressed the link between education, family, and leadership. Aseefa Bhutto said children learn values through daily practice, not only through instruction. She recalled her own schooling experience in the UAE, where cultural and environmental activities shaped strong habits.

During the event, Aseefa Bhutto met several international figures. These included the First Ladies of Lebanon and Colombia, as well as other global leaders and officials.
