South Air’s First Karachi-Islamabad Flight Opens for Booking

South Air’s First Karachi-Islamabad Flight Opens for Booking

South Air’s first commercial flight between Karachi and Islamabad is now open for booking. The inaugural service is scheduled to take off on July 16, 2026, marking the airline’s official entry into Pakistan’s domestic aviation market.

According to the airline’s booking portal, the flight will depart from Karachi at 7:30 am and arrive in Islamabad at 11:40 am. Unlike a direct service, the flight will make a stop in Bahawalpur, bringing the total travel time to 4 hours and 10 minutes.

The launch of South Air’s first scheduled flight is expected to provide travelers with another domestic travel option while improving regional air connectivity.

South Air’s Ticket Prices

The airline has introduced three economy fare categories for its first commercial service. Each option offers different benefits depending on passengers’ travel needs.

The Economy Basic ticket is priced at Rs. 14,218 per passenger. This fare does not include any checked baggage allowance.

The Economy Value ticket costs Rs. 15,792 and includes 20 kilograms of checked baggage.

Meanwhile, the Economy Premium category has already sold out ahead of the inaugural flight. The airline has not announced whether additional premium seats will become available.

The available fare options include:

  • Economy Basic: Rs. 14,218 (No checked baggage)
  • Economy Value: Rs. 15,792 (20kg checked baggage)
  • Economy Premium: Sold out

Flight to Operate Via Bahawalpur

Instead of flying directly between Karachi and Islamabad, the airline will operate the service through Bahawalpur.

The stop increases the total travel time to just over four hours. The airline has not announced how long the aircraft will remain in Bahawalpur before continuing its journey to Islamabad.

The route is expected to improve travel options for passengers flying to and from Bahawalpur while also connecting the city with two of Pakistan’s largest metropolitan areas.

Commercial Operations Begin July 16

The July 16 service marks the official launch of South Air’s scheduled commercial operations.

The airline plans to operate its domestic network using ATR 72 aircraft. These turboprop planes are widely used for regional and short-distance flights because of their operational efficiency.

According to the airline, its business strategy focuses on improving connectivity between major cities and destinations that receive fewer scheduled flights.
