ISLAMABAD – Advocate Salman Safdar, appointed as friend of the court, has denied media reports regarding statements about PTI founder Imran Khan’s health.
Speaking to reporters, Salman Safdar said false news had been attributed to him. He clarified that he did not issue any statement about Imran Khan’s medical condition. He said the recent meeting lasted about three hours.
Safdar explained that he avoided sharing details because the matter was before the Supreme Court. He said it would not be appropriate to comment before submitting his report. However, he confirmed that the meeting took place and that he was given full access.
When asked earlier about Imran Khan’s health, he briefly said that the PTI founder was “fine.” He added that further details would be available in the official report.
Salman Safdar also clarified that he did not brief Aleema Khan or PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja about the meeting. He said he shared no information about the contents of the report. According to him, both individuals understood that he could not disclose any details.
He further said he requested them not to discuss anything related to the report. He added that they respected his position and did not press for further information.
Meanwhile, Aleema Khan told media that Safdar only confirmed he had met Imran Khan for about two hours. She said he informed them that Imran was alright but did not discuss any other matters.
The Supreme Court appointed Salman Safdar as amicus curiae to submit a report on Imran Khan’s living conditions at Adiala Jail. Following the court’s order, Safdar visited the jail, met the PTI founder, and inspected his cell.
Safdar later revealed that the report consists of seven pages and 22 paragraphs. He confirmed that the document has been submitted to the Supreme Court. He said his primary responsibility was to present the report, and he has fulfilled that duty.
