ISLAMABAD โ Punjab authorities have announced a major change in the 8th grade board examinations. For the first time, these exams will use E-Sheets, a digital system aimed at modernizing the assessment process.
Under this new system, studentsโ answer sheets will be scanned and evaluated electronically. Officials say E-Sheets will reduce human error, increase transparency, and speed up results. The reform marks a significant step forward in the provinceโs education sector.
Approximately 1 million students across Punjab are expected to sit for these exams. The scale of this operation makes it one of the largest academic exercises in recent years.
The secure delivery of question papers has been entrusted to Pakistan Post. The national postal service will handle the distribution to all districts, ensuring timely and safe arrival of papers. Once exams conclude, answer sheets will be collected through district CEOs of Education. This centralized system will organize sheets for scanning and evaluation efficiently.
Examinations are set to begin on March 9, with results scheduled for April 9. Officials emphasize that the digital process promises faster results compared to traditional paper-based systems.
The 8th grade board exams will cover four core subjects: Urdu, English, Science, and Mathematics. All other subjects will be assessed internally by schools, giving institutions flexibility in managing non-core evaluations.
Education authorities believe E-Sheets will not only streamline the examination process but also set a precedent for future digital initiatives in Punjabโs academic sector. Teachers, students, and parents are closely monitoring this new approach, which blends technology with education management.
With centralized logistics, digital scanning, and scheduled timelines, this reform is seen as a major modernization effort. As March 9 approaches, nearly a million students are preparing to experience board exams in a fully digital format for the first time.
