Punjab Cracks Down on Drone Flying Over Safety Fears

Punjab government has imposed an immediate ban on outdoor Drone flying across the province. Authorities say the decision was taken to address security concerns and protect public safety.

The order was announced through an official notification issued by the Punjab Home Department on Wednesday. Officials stated that the uncontrolled use of Drone devices could pose risks to public order and safety.

According to the notification, unregulated Drone activities may interfere with official operations. Authorities warned that such activity could also create law and order problems in sensitive areas.

Officials explained that drones could potentially threaten important buildings and installations. The government said it was necessary to prevent any possible security incidents.

The Home Department said the ban has been imposed under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898. This law allows authorities to restrict certain activities in the interest of public safety.

The department stated that the decision was taken to maintain peace and avoid any untoward situation. Officials believe that restricting Drone flying will help reduce potential security threats.

Authorities also stressed that the ban applies only to outdoor drone operations. The use of small drones inside halls, marquees, or other indoor venues will still be allowed.

However, event organizers will be responsible for ensuring the safe use of any Drone equipment during indoor activities. Organizers must make sure the devices do not create safety hazards.

Officials added that the restriction will not apply to intelligence agencies and law enforcement departments. These institutions may continue to use Drone technology for official purposes.

Security agencies often rely on drones for surveillance and monitoring. Such operations will continue without interruption under the new order.

The Punjab government said the ban will remain in effect for 30 days from the date of issuance. Authorities may review the situation before deciding whether to extend or withdraw the order.

Government representatives emphasized that the measure is precautionary. They said the main goal is to protect citizens and maintain public peace.

Experts note that drones are widely used for photography, events, and security monitoring. However, improper or uncontrolled use can raise safety concerns in crowded areas.

Officials have advised citizens to follow the restrictions and avoid violating the order. Anyone found operating a Drone outdoors during the ban period could face legal action.
