PM Laptop Scheme 4th Phase Launches with Per Laptop Price Revealed

ISLAMABAD โ€“ The government of Pakistan has launched the fourth phase of the Prime Ministerโ€™s Laptop Scheme 2026, aiming to provide 100,000 laptops to students nationwide.

The total cost of the project is Rs16.8012 billion, which includes purchase, import, and associated expenses. A major portion, around Rs15.16 billion, is allocated for foreign payments, as the laptops are being imported.

The procurement contract was finalized at $37.7 million, with each laptop costing Rs376.96 including taxes. In Pakistani rupees, this equates to slightly over Rs100,000 per device.

The supply contract was awarded to M/S Ai Stone Tong Fang Joint Venture and M/S HNR Pakistan. These companies offered the best balance of technical standards and competitive pricing for the Laptop Scheme.

The procurement followed strict Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules through an open tender, advertised on August 4, 2024, in national newspapers and official government websites.

Seven companies participated in the bidding, including major organizations such as National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC), Jazz, and DWP Technologies.

The bids were assessed in two stages. First, the technical capacity and quality were evaluated, and then the financial offers were reviewed. This quality-and-cost-based selection ensures high standards while keeping prices competitive.

Officials emphasized that the Laptop Scheme aims to empower students by providing access to modern technology. The laptops are expected to support education, research, and digital skills development across the country.

Authorities confirmed that distribution will begin soon, with priority given to students in need. The government believes that providing laptops under this scheme will help bridge the digital divide and improve learning outcomes nationwide.
