India Shifts Ahmedabad Hotel, Dressing Room to Avoid 2023 World Cup Bad Luck

India Shifts Ahmedabad Hotel, Dressing Room to Avoid 2023 World Cup Bad Luck

AHMEDABAD โ€“ The Indian cricket team has reportedly changed its hotel in Ahmedabad ahead of the ICC Menโ€™s T20 World Cup final. The move comes as the team prepares to face New Zealand on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Indian media reports suggest the decision is influenced by memories of the 2023 Cricket World Cup final. India lost that match to Australia, and officials are believed to be avoiding the hotel where the team stayed during that defeat. No official statement has been released regarding the hotel change.

Earlier in the tournament, reports said the Indian team adjusted a training session in Mumbai by 45 minutes before the semi-final due to a lunar eclipse. Superstitions and pitch history seem to be guiding some of the teamโ€™s preparations.

India also faced defeat against South Africa in the Super 8 stage on a black-soil pitch in Ahmedabad. The venue features different pitch types, including red-soil, black-soil, and mixed surfaces. Indian media suggest the team may prefer a red-soil pitch for the final, similar to the surface used during their strong semi-final batting performance in Mumbai.

Additional reports indicated that India might use the visiting teamโ€™s dressing room instead of the home dressing room in Ahmedabad. This change is seen as another way to alter the environment and bring a fresh perspective before the crucial World Cup final.

Team management and players have focused on strategy, pitch conditions, and preparation routines to ensure the best performance. Experts believe that attention to small details, including hotel selection and dressing room choice, reflects the teamโ€™s intent to stay mentally strong and avoid past setbacks.
