Iran Says It Is Not Building Long-Range Missiles as Global Security Concerns Grow

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that the country is not developing long-range Missiles. He said Iran has deliberately limited the range of its Missiles to about 2,000 kilometers.

Speaking about the country’s defense policy, Araghchi explained that Iran’s missile program is designed for defensive purposes. According to him, the limited range of the Missiles is intended to reduce concerns among other nations.

He added that Iran has no plans to extend the range of its Missiles beyond the current limit. Araghchi also said there is no intelligence or evidence suggesting that Iranian Missiles can reach the United States.

The Iranian foreign minister emphasized that the missile program is part of the country’s national defense strategy. He stated that the restrictions placed on Missiles show Iran’s intention to avoid creating unnecessary tensions.

During his remarks, Araghchi also spoke about political developments inside Iran. He said the selection of the country’s Supreme Leader will be handled by the Assembly of Experts.

According to him, the appointment of the Supreme Leader is an internal matter for Iran. The decision, he said, will be made through the country’s constitutional process.

Araghchi explained that Iran’s government institutions continue to function normally. The president, cabinet, and parliament remain active despite ongoing regional tensions.

He also stressed that Iran will not accept outside pressure regarding its leadership decisions. The foreign minister said such matters must be resolved by the Iranian people themselves.

At the same time, Araghchi raised concerns about ongoing attacks affecting civilian areas. He alleged that students and ordinary citizens have been among those impacted.

According to him, several important facilities have also been targeted. These include hospitals, desalination plants, and oil refineries.

The attacks have reportedly caused casualties and damage to infrastructure in multiple areas. Emergency teams are working to control fires that broke out in oil storage tanks following recent strikes.

Witnesses reported seeing thick smoke rising above Tehran after aerial attacks in the region.

Araghchi urged the international community to pay attention to the situation. He called for greater focus on protecting civilians and critical infrastructure.
