Italian PM Condemns Iranian School Massacre Amid Global Outcry

Italian PM Condemns Iranian School Massacre Amid Global Outcry

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni strongly condemned the missile strike on an Iranian elementary school that killed 175 people. Most victims were young girls.

Speaking before Parliament in Rome, Meloni called the attack a massacre and described it as โ€œoutside the scope of international law.โ€ She expressed deep sympathy with the victimsโ€™ families and demanded a rapid investigation to hold those responsible accountable.

The tragedy occurred on February 28 at Shajarah Tayyebeh elementary school in Minab, southern Iran. Preliminary U.S. military reports suggest the strike, carried out using Tomahawk cruise missiles, was a catastrophic targeting error.

According to officials, outdated intelligence from the Defense Intelligence Agency led U.S. Central Command officers to produce incorrect coordinates. Despite satellite images, videos, and social media evidence confirming the school was hit, questions remain about why the intelligence was not properly verified.

The Pentagon declined to comment. Former President Donald Trump expressed surprise at reports implicating U.S. forces and previously blamed the Iranian government for the tragedy.

European leaders have condemned the strike. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz criticized the lack of a clear strategy to end the war. Leaders from France and the U.K. urged both sides to halt military operations and resume negotiations. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sรกnchez denounced the attacks, rejecting threats from Trump to cut trade and asserting Spain would not condone actions violating international norms.

Investigators warn that this deadly precision strike is among the most catastrophic single military errors in recent history. The shocking loss of innocent children and school staff has intensified global scrutiny of U.S. military operations in Iran.

The school massacre has sparked widespread outrage, with leaders worldwide demanding accountability. As the conflict continues, tensions remain high, and questions about responsibility and verification of intelligence remain unresolved.

This tragic massacre highlights the devastating human cost of military errors and has renewed calls for stricter international oversight during armed conflicts.
