90 Flights Cancelled Across Pakistan Due to Middle East Airspace Closure

Air travel in Pakistan has been disrupted, with 90 flights cancelled across multiple airports following airspace closures in the Middle East. The closures come amid ongoing tensions between US, Israel, and Iran.

The affected routes include flights to and from Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, and Iraq. Flights arriving from and departing to Qatar were also cancelled.

Over the past 17 days, reports indicate that a total of 1,955 flights have been cancelled across the country. Karachi airport experienced the most disruption, with 27 flights to Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, and Dammam cancelled.

Other cities also saw cancellations. Lahore had 16 flights cancelled, Islamabad 22, Peshawar 10, Multan seven, Faisalabad four, and Sialkot two. The disruptions have caused delays for passengers traveling to key Middle Eastern destinations.

On Saturday, the situation improved slightly, with 42 flights successfully departing from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, Peshawar, Sialkot, and Faisalabad to Middle Eastern countries. Airlines are closely monitoring airspace conditions and updating schedules accordingly.

In a separate incident, flight G9559 from Multan to Sharjah was forced to return shortly after takeoff due to reports of an explosion at Dubai Airport. The aircraft later resumed its journey after authorities confirmed safety conditions.

Authorities continue to advise passengers to check flight statuses before heading to airports. Airlines have issued statements urging travelers to remain patient amid ongoing disruptions.

The Middle East airspace closure has created significant challenges for Pakistanโ€™s aviation sector. Airlines are coordinating with international authorities to ensure passenger safety and minimize further cancellations.
