The steady arrival of fuel shipments at Port Qasim in Karachi continues as Pakistan works to secure energy supplies. This move comes amid rising uncertainty linked to the Middle East crisis.
Officials confirmed that multiple petrol and crude oil tankers have reached Port Qasim in recent days. At the same time, several vessels remain at the outer anchorage, waiting for clearance to dock and unload.
Among the recent arrivals, MT Khairpur delivered 60,000 tonnes of petrol from Fujairah. Another vessel, MT Sunny Liger, brought 26,000 tonnes from the same port. In addition, MT NCC Reem arrived carrying 38,000 tonnes of petrol.
Meanwhile, some tankers have already completed their operations and left Port Qasim. MT Torm Damini unloaded 37,000 metric tonnes of petrol before departure. MT Nave Atropos also completed delivery of 53,000 metric tonnes. Similarly, MT Sapporo II discharged 55,000 metric tonnes of petrol and then sailed away.
Diesel shipments have also been handled during this period. MT Maritime Amity delivered 43,000 metric tonnes of diesel before leaving the port.
However, not all vessels have been able to dock on time. MT Sea Clipper, carrying 34,000 tonnes of petrol, is still waiting at the outer anchorage. Sources said the delay is due to financial constraints, which have affected berthing arrangements.
The continuous movement of tankers shows the governmentโs effort to maintain fuel availability. Demand for petroleum products remains high across the country, especially during uncertain global conditions.
Earlier, the government revised fuel prices for the week ending March 20. Petrol prices remained unchanged, but kerosene oil saw a sharp increase. The price of kerosene rose by Rs39.20 per litre.
With this increase, kerosene has become the most expensive fuel product, reaching Rs358 per litre. Often called the fuel for low-income households, kerosene has seen the highest price rise since March 7.
Overall, ongoing activity at Port Qasim reflects Pakistanโs strategy to ensure stable fuel supplies during a challenging time.
