ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s telecom sector has entered a new phase with the latest 5G Speed Trial results. Major operators are now testing next-generation networks before a full rollout.
Zong has taken the lead in the recent 5G Speed Trial conducted in Islamabad. The company recorded peak download speeds of over 1.4 Gbps. These tests were carried out across several urban locations.
The results show Zong reaching a maximum download speed of 1,438 Mbps. Its upload speed was measured at 76.7 Mbps. The network also delivered a low ping of 9 milliseconds and minimal jitter of 1 ms. These figures highlight strong network stability and fast response time.
Jazz also participated in the 5G Speed Trial, showing competitive performance. The company achieved a download speed of 1,400 Mbps. Its upload speed was slightly higher at 81.7 Mbps. However, Jazz recorded a ping of 11 milliseconds and jitter of 3 ms, which are slightly higher than Zong’s results.
Industry experts note that Zong’s performance is linked to its optimized infrastructure. The company has focused on efficient use of spectrum resources. This approach helped it deliver high speeds and lower latency during testing.
Jazz, on the other hand, holds a strong position in spectrum ownership. The company secured 190 MHz across multiple bands in the recent auction. This gives it an advantage for future network expansion and performance improvements.
The trials were conducted in key areas of Islamabad, including the F-7 sector. These early tests aim to evaluate real-world performance before commercial launch. Both operators demonstrated that Pakistan is ready to move toward advanced connectivity.
Meanwhile, Ufone has not yet released its 5G Speed Trial results. This leaves the overall competition incomplete for now. Once Ufone shares its data, a clearer comparison will be possible.
