Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, has highlighted the importance of national harmony during a meeting with religious scholars in Rawalpindi. The interaction focused on unity, security, and the role of Ulema in promoting peace across the country.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting included Ulema from the Ahl-e-Tasheeh community. Discussions covered national security challenges and the need to strengthen national harmony through collective efforts.
Field Marshal Munir stressed that religious scholars play a key role in guiding society. He said they must promote tolerance and discourage extremism. He warned that religious sentiments should not be misused to spread violence or division.
He also pointed out the growing threat of misinformation and sectarian narratives. He urged Ulema to actively counter such elements. He said their role is vital in maintaining unity and ensuring national harmony in difficult times.
During the meeting, the Army Chief also spoke about Operation Ghazab lil Haq. He reaffirmed Pakistanโs commitment to eliminate terrorism and its support networks. He stated that any use of Afghan soil against Pakistan will not be tolerated.
He added that the Afghan Taliban must ensure their territory is not used for attacks. He said Pakistan will continue intelligence-based operations to target terrorists wherever they operate.
The Army Chief also highlighted Pakistanโs diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in the region. He said the country is working actively to promote stability through peaceful means.
He made it clear that violence in Pakistan, triggered by incidents in other countries, will not be accepted. He stressed that maintaining law and order is essential for peace.
The participating Ulema expressed strong support for peace and stability. They condemned violence in the name of religion and pledged cooperation with law enforcement agencies. They also reaffirmed their commitment to promoting unity and national harmony in society.
The meeting ended with a shared resolve to work together for a peaceful and stable Pakistan.
