The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning about high temperatures and a heatwave in Sindh starting April 11.
The NDMA stated that daytime temperatures may rise 5 to 7ยฐC above normal, while nighttime temperatures could be 3 to 5ยฐC higher than usual. Residents are advised to remain cautious during the intense heat.
Districts most affected include Dadu, Jacobabad, and Larkana, along with adjoining areas. Jamshoro, Kambar Shahdadkot, Ghotki, and Khairpur are also expected to experience the heatwave. Temperatures in Sanghar, Umar Kot, and Kashmore may also soar.
The severe high temperatures are not limited to Sindh. Baluchistan districts, including Jhal Magsi, Osta Muhammad, and Dera Murad Jamali, will also be affected. In southern Punjab, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan districts are likely to face extreme heat.
The NDMA has urged people to avoid going outdoors unnecessarily during the peak hours of the heatwave. It also emphasized increasing water intake and staying hydrated to reduce heat-related health risks.
Authorities warned that the ongoing hot weather could cause heatstroke and other health complications, particularly among children, the elderly, and people with pre-existing conditions. Using light clothing and staying in shaded or air-conditioned areas are recommended precautions.
Officials continue to monitor the situation closely. Hospitals and emergency services have been advised to remain prepared for cases of heat-related illness. Communities are encouraged to check on vulnerable individuals and follow safety guidelines issued by local authorities.
With high temperatures expected to persist for several days, the NDMA emphasizes public vigilance and timely action to prevent heat-related emergencies.
