A Pakistan-flagged oil tanker has successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz, signaling continued energy movement despite escalating geopolitical tensions in the region.
Shipping data confirmed that the tanker Shalamar, managed by the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, carried approximately 440,000 barrels of Das Blend crude oil loaded earlier this week.
The vessel departed from the United Arab Emirates and is currently en route to Karachi, where it is expected to unload its cargo on April 19.
Officials stated that despite rising tensions in the Gulf region, Pakistanโs oil supply chain remains operational. The Shalamar is one of two Pakistani tankers that entered the strait earlier this week to load crude and petroleum products.
According to the petroleum minister, the tanker loaded its cargo from a terminal operated by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, highlighting ongoing cooperation with Gulf energy suppliers.
Meanwhile, the United States Navy has intensified enforcement measures in the region. Authorities warned that vessels suspected of heading toward Iranian waters could face inspection or interception.
United States Central Command reported that at least 14 vessels have already reversed course within the first 72 hours to comply with the new restrictions.
Despite these developments, the successful transit of the Pakistani tanker reflects resilience in global energy routes and continued supply stability for Pakistan amid uncertain regional conditions.
