Iranian Delegation Won’t Travel To Islamabad For Second Round of US Talks, Baqai Says

Iran has officially announced that it will not attend the upcoming second round of direct talks with the United States. The negotiations were expected to take place in Pakistan as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts.

The decision has added more pressure to already fragile relations between Tehran and Washington. Iranian officials said trust in the US administration remains extremely low.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei stated that Iran has serious concerns about Washington’s approach. He said the US has made excessive demands and frequently changed its position. These issues have created major obstacles ahead of the second round.

Iran also criticized US naval activity in the Strait of Hormuz. Officials described it as a violation of the ceasefire understanding. They also said it increases military pressure in the region.

The first round of talks had already taken place in Islamabad. That session reportedly lasted more than 21 hours. Despite long discussions, no agreement was reached during the initial meeting.

Both sides blamed each other for the lack of progress. This failure has now impacted expectations for the second round of negotiations.

Pakistan has been playing a mediating role between the two countries. Officials in Islamabad have been trying to reduce tensions and encourage dialogue. However, Iran’s latest announcement has complicated efforts to continue the process.

Iran has stated that it may only return to talks if US military pressure is reduced. This condition is seen as a key obstacle for resuming the second round.

Meanwhile, international reactions have also increased pressure on the situation. China recently criticized the US over the seizure of an Iranian cargo ship. This has further intensified diplomatic tensions around the issue.

Analysts say the cancellation of the second round reflects deep mistrust between both sides. They believe that without compromise, progress in talks will remain difficult.

For now, the future of negotiations remains uncertain. The absence of Iran from the second round raises questions about the next steps in the peace process.

Diplomatic efforts are expected to continue, but major differences still remain unresolved between the two countries.
