TEHRAN โ Iran has said that no final decision has been taken regarding its participation in the next round of talks with the US in Islamabad. The statement comes at a time of rising regional tensions and diplomatic uncertainty.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said on Monday that Tehran has not set any agenda for upcoming negotiations. He added that discussions with the US remain uncertain at this stage.
According to him, Iran has not agreed to attend the next round of talks in Islamabad. He also stated that Washington does not appear serious about pursuing diplomatic solutions.
Baqaei accused the US of following a blame-oriented approach instead of constructive engagement. He said Iran cannot expect fair intentions from Washington under current conditions.
He also criticised the US and Israel, alleging violations of international law. He urged global bodies, including the United Nations, to take stronger action in response to ongoing tensions.
The spokesman further claimed that Pakistan has been informed about recent ceasefire violations. He alleged that the US has used regional bases to carry out actions against Iran. He also reiterated that Iran reserves the right to defend itself against any external aggression.
The situation follows recent reports that US negotiators may travel to Pakistan for possible talks. However, Iran has not confirmed participation in any upcoming diplomatic session.
Earlier, a brief 21-hour negotiating round was held in Islamabad on April 11. That meeting ended without any agreement between Iran and the US, although diplomatic efforts continued afterward.
Former US President Donald Trump also commented on the situation. He stated that negotiators are prepared to offer a โfair and reasonable dealโ and urged Iran to accept it.
He also warned that if no agreement is reached, there could be consequences targeting Iranian infrastructure. His remarks added further tension to already sensitive diplomatic efforts involving the US and Iran.
