Islamabad โ Traffic authorities in Islamabad have announced major road closures ahead of the arrival of Iranโs Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The capital city is under strict security arrangements as officials prepare for the high-level diplomatic visit.
According to traffic police, several important roads in Islamabad have been closed or placed under restrictions. The security plan aims to ensure safe movement during the foreign ministerโs stay in the federal capital.
The Red Zone in Islamabad has been completely sealed for all vehicles. The restricted zone includes major government offices and diplomatic areas. This closure has affected daily traffic movement in the city center.
Authorities also confirmed that the Islamabad Expressway between Korang and Zero Point has been shut down. Traffic on Srinagar Highway may also face temporary closures throughout the day. These restrictions are expected to increase traffic pressure on alternative routes.
Heavy vehicles have also been banned from entering Islamabad from all directions. Transport operators have been advised to avoid entering the city until the security operation ends.
To reduce traffic problems, officials have introduced an alternative traffic plan. Residents of sectors G-5, G-6, G-7, F-6, and F-7 are advised to use 9th Avenue through Margalla Road for travel between Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Traffic coming from Faisal Avenue towards Zero Point will also be diverted to 9th Avenue. This change will affect regular travel routes in central Islamabad.
If the Zero Point to Korang Chowk route remains closed, drivers will be redirected through Srinagar Highway, Stadium Road, Chandni Chowk, and Murree Road.
Travelers between Bhara Kahu and Islamabad have been advised to use Korang Road, Bani Gala, and Lehtrar Road.
For intercity freight, trucks from GT Road heading to Lahore will now use the Taxila Motorway and Rawat GT Road. The same alternate route will apply for return traffic.
