The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has officially transitioned its driving license system to a completely paperless model, aiming to improve efficiency and modernize public service delivery. The move is part of broader efforts to streamline operations and reduce unnecessary paperwork.
Chief Traffic Officer Muhammad Sarfraz Virk announced the development during a review meeting with officials from various service centers. He directed all licensing branches to immediately implement the new digital system across Islamabad.
Under the updated system, physical documents have been eliminated from the entire licensing process. This includes all stages, from the initial medical assessment to the final issuance of the driving license, making the process faster and more efficient.
Officials stated that applicants will no longer need to carry multiple documents when applying. The original Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) will now be sufficient for processing a driving license application.
To ensure convenience and accessibility, dedicated service counters have been established for women and senior citizens at licensing centers. This step is aimed at providing a smoother experience for vulnerable groups.
Authorities also revealed that work is underway to digitize the license fee payment system. Once implemented, this feature is expected to enhance transparency and further simplify the overall process for applicants.
