KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced New rules for private school fee collection for the 2026โ27 academic session. The updated policy focuses on advance fee payments and exam-related charges.
According to officials, the new academic year started on April 1. Meanwhile, matriculation exams began on April 10 across Sindh.
Under the New rules, private schools have been instructed to charge matric students only until March. Schools are not allowed to collect any extra fees from students appearing in board examinations.
Authorities said this decision was made to protect students and parents from unnecessary financial pressure during exam season.
A separate fee system has also been introduced for students moving from Class IX to Class X. Officials said this change will help make the payment process smoother during the transition period.
The revised policy applies to students from pre-primary classes to Class IX. Education officials believe the New rules will create more transparency in school fee collection.
Private schools are now allowed to collect June and July fees in advance during April and May. However, they must issue separate vouchers for each month.
According to the policy, June fee vouchers will remain valid until June 30. July vouchers can be used until July 31.
Officials said these New rules are designed to stop schools from collecting unfair charges and improve trust between parents and educational institutions.
The decision comes after a recent case in the Sindh High Court. Earlier this month, the court allowed a ninth-grade student to appear in exams despite a dispute over June and July fee payments.
The case raised concerns among parents about fee collection practices in private schools.
Education authorities said schools must follow the revised policy strictly. They warned that action could be taken against institutions that violate the updated guidelines.
