Cambridge International Education has officially cancelled the Cambridge International AS Level Mathematics Paper 12 (9709/12) after confirming that exam content was leaked before the scheduled exam date in certain countries.
In an official statement issued to schools, Cambridge said the leaked material violated examination regulations and compromised the integrity of the assessment process. The board announced that the affected paper would not be used for final grading or calculated assessment.
To address the situation, Cambridge has scheduled a replacement examination for Tuesday, June 9, 2026. All candidates in countries impacted by the leak will be required to sit the new paper.
Cambridge acknowledged the frustration and inconvenience caused to students, families, and schools. The examination body stated that many students may not have seen the leaked paper before the exam, but emphasized that fair and reliable grading could not be guaranteed once the paper had been shared publicly.
โOur priority is to make sure that no candidate is disadvantaged by the malpractice of a few,โ the statement said. Cambridge added that the decision was necessary to protect honest candidates and ensure that no student gains unfair advantage through cheating.
The organization also clarified that students cannot request calculated grades instead of appearing in the replacement examination. Schools are expected to receive further guidance regarding withdrawals and future exam entries by May 15.
