Private schools across Punjab have requested permission from the provincial government to organize summer camps during the upcoming summer vacations. School administrations said the camps would help students recover academic losses caused by recent unscheduled school closures.
According to representatives of the education sector, regular academic activities were disturbed due to unexpected holidays in different parts of the province. They believe summer camps can help students complete their syllabus on time and improve their preparation for the next academic session.
Private Schools proposed that the camps should take place during early morning hours to protect students from extreme heat. School owners suggested a timing schedule from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM. They said these hours would allow educational activities to continue in safer weather conditions.
Administrators from several Private Schools stated that many students faced interruptions in their studies during the academic year. They added that delayed classes affected syllabus completion and slowed overall learning progress. Education experts believe short academic sessions during vacations could reduce learning gaps among students.
Sources within the Punjab School Education Department said permission for summer camps is usually granted every year. Officials noted that schools are often allowed to conduct one-month academic camps during the vacation period. However, this year’s approval process is still pending.
Department sources further stated that the final decision will be made after clearance from Maryam Nawaz. Officials are currently reviewing the proposal submitted by representatives of Private Schools across the province.
Education sector representatives also argued that summer camps would help students remain connected with their studies during long vacations. They said additional academic support is important, especially for students preparing for board classes and competitive examinations.
Parents are also waiting for the government’s decision regarding the proposed camps. Some families support the idea because it may help students maintain their academic routine. Others believe proper safety measures should be ensured due to the intense summer weather.
