The Punjab government has introduced major reforms in the private education sector. These New Rules aim to improve transparency, monitoring, and digital registration systems across schools in the province. The changes apply to both new registrations and renewals.
According to officials, the Private School Regulatory Authority Punjab has been instructed to strengthen oversight. Under the New Rules, all school registration processes will now be completed through a centralized online portal. This step is expected to reduce manual delays and improve record accuracy.
Schools will now be required to clearly disclose their fee structures. They must also ensure that at least 10 percent of students come from underprivileged backgrounds. Authorities say this will help promote equal access to education.
The New Rules also include strict safety and infrastructure requirements. Schools located on main roads must install zebra crossings and proper signage. In addition, CCTV cameras have been made mandatory for security purposes.
Institutions will also need to follow anti-dengue guidelines. Proper sanitation systems must be maintained at all times. These measures are part of a broader effort to improve health and safety standards in schools.
Digital compliance has also been strengthened under the New Rules. Schools are required to register on the Punjab Safety App and the Green School App. Building fitness certificates and hygiene reports are now essential for approval.
Franchise schools must obtain a no-objection certificate from their head office. This ensures proper coordination and accountability between branches and parent institutions.
Transport facilities have also been addressed in the updated policy. Schools will now be required to provide transport services to at least 50 percent of their students. Officials say this will improve access and reduce travel issues for families.
The government believes these New Rules will improve the overall quality of private education. They are designed to ensure better safety, fairness, and transparency in school operations across Punjab.
