The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration has arrested a woman for allegedly attempting to travel abroad using a fake marriage certificate. The incident took place during immigration clearance for a flight to Oman.
According to FIA officials, the woman was traveling on a Relative Joining Visa. She was stopped at the immigration checkpoint after authorities requested documents related to her marriage.
During questioning, immigration officials noticed contradictions in her statements. The woman later admitted that her marriage to Mohammad Rehan was not legally registered.
She also confessed that the fake marriage certificate she presented had been arranged through an agent. Authorities believe the forged document was prepared to help her secure the Oman visa.
FIA officials immediately offloaded the passenger and began a detailed investigation into the matter. The agency said strict checks are being carried out to prevent the misuse of travel documents.
During the operation, officials confiscated the fake marriage certificate, an Oman ID card, and several other suspicious documents. Authorities also seized her mobile phone for forensic examination.
The case has now been transferred to the FIAโs Anti-Human Trafficking Cell in Karachi. Investigators are examining possible links to document forgery and illegal immigration networks.
Officials said agents involved in arranging fake travel documents are under scrutiny. FIA believes organized groups may be helping individuals obtain forged paperwork for overseas travel.
The agency warned citizens against using illegal means to secure visas or immigration approval. Officials stated that presenting a fake marriage certificate is a serious offense under the law.
Authorities added that strict action will continue against those involved in human trafficking and document fraud. They urged people to follow proper legal procedures for travel and visa applications.
Immigration officials have increased monitoring at airports to detect suspicious travel records and forged documents. FIA stated that advanced verification methods are being used during passenger clearance.
The investigation is still ongoing, and more arrests may follow if additional individuals are found connected to the case. Officials have not yet disclosed the identity of the agent involved.
The FIA reiterated that the use of a fake marriage certificate can lead to legal action, travel bans, and criminal charges. Citizens have been advised to avoid unauthorized agents and rely only on legal documentation processes.
