TLP Chief Saad Rizvi Faces Fresh Legal Action After Lahore ATC Order

TLP Chief Saad Rizvi Faces Fresh Legal Action After Lahore ATC Order

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore has declared Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Saad Rizvi and several other party leaders as proclaimed offenders after they repeatedly failed to appear before the court despite official notices.

The order was issued by ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill during a hearing related to a case registered by Badami Bagh police.

The court also issued perpetual arrest warrants for the accused after law enforcement officials informed the court that the suspects had allegedly gone into hiding to avoid arrest.

According to the police, the case includes serious allegations such as terrorism, incitement to violence, and attacks on law enforcement personnel during previous protests.

Investigators told the court that proclamation notices had already been issued and publicly published. However, despite repeated notices, none of the accused appeared before the court proceedings.

The investigating officer stated that the accused were intentionally avoiding the legal process due to fear of arrest.

Along with Saad Rizvi, the court also declared several senior TLP figures and clerics as proclaimed offenders. These included Ans Rizvi, Mian Jamil Ahmed Sharqpuri, Allama Farooqul Hassan, and Mian Jalil Ahmed Sharqpuri among others.

The latest development comes months after a major government crackdown against Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan following violent protests during a march toward Islamabad.

During the protests, clashes reportedly took place between demonstrators and security forces. The unrest resulted in deaths, injuries, and damage in different areas.

Following the incidents, authorities launched large-scale operations against the party. Thousands of workers and supporters were reportedly arrested, while party offices were raided in several cities.

The government also froze assets linked to the organization and imposed legal restrictions under anti-terrorism laws.

On October 23, 2025, the federal government officially banned TLP, citing allegations of involvement in violent and terrorism-related activities.

Since the ban, Saad Rizvi has remained out of public view, while several cases have been registered against him and other party leaders.

Officials stated that his whereabouts remain unclear, and law enforcement agencies continue efforts to locate the absconding suspects.

Despite the restrictions, TLP rejected the government’s decision and continued limited underground political and organizational activities in different regions.

However, analysts say the party’s overall operational strength has weakened significantly following the crackdown and legal actions.

The court’s latest ruling is being seen as another major legal development in the ongoing cases involving TLP leadership and members. Authorities maintain that legal proceedings will continue under the country’s anti-terrorism laws.
