PESHAWAR โ Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Tuesday said he will continue serving as chief minister until he receives a new directive from PTI founding chairman Imran Khan.
Speaking to the media in Rawalpindi, Sohail Afridi dismissed speculation about any possible change in the provincial leadership. He said his position remains linked to the decision of the party leadership.
He quoted Imran Khan, saying that no one can remove him from office as long as he remains the partyโs chosen candidate. Sohail Afridi said he will follow the instructions of the PTI founder.
The chief minister added that he will continue in office until a new message is received. His remarks come amid growing political uncertainty within PTIโs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter.
According to sources, a forward bloc has emerged within the provincial ranks of the party. Nearly 30 MPAs reportedly skipped a parliamentary meeting chaired by Sohail Afridi on Sunday.
The absence is being viewed as a sign of internal disagreement. Party insiders suggest that discussions over leadership roles are intensifying behind the scenes.
Despite these reports, Sohail Afridi described claims of internal division as propaganda. He said the provincial government remains stable under PTI leadership.
He also said that only Imran Khan has the authority to decide changes in the chief ministerโs office. Sohail Afridi emphasized loyalty to the party founder as the main guiding principle.
During his media interaction, Sohail Afridi also raised concerns about Imran Khanโs health. He requested that the former prime minister be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for medical treatment.
He further urged authorities to allow family members regular access if others are not being permitted to meet him.
On governance matters, Sohail Afridi said the provincial cabinet has approved budget documents. He added that the government is preparing a people-friendly budget focused on key sectors.
According to him, the priorities include health, education, agriculture, youth development, and environmental protection. He said the budget is not aimed at surplus targets.
Political tensions within PTI continue to rise in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A six-member committee has also been formed to address internal differences and improve coordination within the party structure.
