US-Iran Peace Deal May Be Signed on Sidelines of Upcoming G7 Summit, Reports Say

A proposed Deal between Iran and the United States could be signed within the next few days, according to reports from Iranian media. Officials familiar with the ongoing discussions said efforts are underway to finalize an interim memorandum of understanding between the two countries.

Sources indicated that the signing of the Deal may take place on the sidelines of the upcoming G7 summit if negotiations continue smoothly. However, they noted that the agreement could also be finalized before the summit begins if no unexpected developments affect the diplomatic process. Reports suggest that Geneva is being considered as the preferred location for signing the document.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the memorandum has not yet been signed and remains open to changes. He added that the full contents of the agreement would be released once negotiations are completed and both sides reach a final understanding.

According to Araghchi, the draft document contains 14 key points. He explained that discussions related to Iran’s nuclear program have been postponed for a later phase. He described current American demands regarding the nuclear issue as unacceptable to Tehran at this stage of the talks.

The proposed Deal is expected to focus on reducing tensions across the region. Araghchi said the interim arrangement includes measures aimed at ending hostilities on several fronts, including Lebanon. The agreement also addresses sanctions relief, the removal of certain restrictions on Iran, and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

The foreign minister stated that Iran emerged stronger following its recent confrontation with the United States. He said any ceasefire arrangements would be implemented under a broader transitional framework. Future progress on nuclear negotiations, he added, would depend on successful confidence-building measures included in the current accord.

Araghchi also discussed the future management of the Strait of Hormuz. He said previous administrative arrangements would not automatically return. Iran, he noted, would continue ensuring safe navigation through the strategic waterway while protecting its national interests. Oman and Iran would also maintain responsibilities linked to sovereignty in the area.

Meanwhile, Middle East developments are expected to be a major topic during the G7 summit. Leaders are likely to discuss regional stability, maritime security, economic growth, artificial intelligence, global partnerships, and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
