Transporters Demand Emergency Services Every 30–40 KM on National Highways

The All Pakistan Bus Owners Public Transport Association has urged the government to establish emergency services along national highways. The demand aims to improve road safety and reduce accident-related losses.

During a meeting, Transporters highlighted the need for quick emergency response systems. The meeting was chaired by association president Rana Muhammad Asghar.

The Transporters proposed that service areas should be set up every 30 to 40 kilometers on national highways. These facilities should include ambulances, fire brigades, and other emergency support systems.

Rana Muhammad Asghar said such arrangements are necessary to save human lives during accidents. He added that quick response can reduce fatalities and serious injuries.

He also explained that Transporters often face challenges when accidents or vehicle fires occur in remote areas. In many cases, delayed help increases damage and loss of life.

According to him, incidents involving gas cylinder explosions in vehicles are particularly dangerous. Immediate emergency access can significantly reduce risks in such situations.

The meeting also stressed the importance of driver safety and rest periods. The Transporters emphasized that fatigue is a major cause of road accidents on long routes.

They urged transport companies to ensure that drivers get proper sleep before starting long-distance travel, especially on routes leading to northern areas.

Participants said better planning and safety measures would improve passenger confidence. They also believe that such steps will make long-distance travel safer and more reliable.

Several senior members of the transport sector attended the meeting. These included Chaudhry Tariq Gujjar, Malik Achhu Dogar, Mian Wali Muhammad, Rana Wakeel, Mehboob Khan Niazi, Rana Iqbal, Javed Dogar, Nasir Dogar, Rana Munawar, and Rana Irfan.

The Transporters concluded that improved emergency infrastructure will play a key role in reducing road accidents and saving lives across the country.
