JAMSHORO: Two killed in a tragic accident at the Lakhra coalmine near Hyderabad on Sunday, according to rescue officials. The incident took place in a mine operated by Sindh Lakhra Coal Company.
Rescue sources said the accident happened when two workers fell into a 100-foot-deep pit along with heavy machinery. The sudden fall proved fatal, and both workers died on the spot.
Officials confirmed that the victims were identified as Nadir Rajar and Juman Rajar. Rescue teams reached the site soon after the incident and started recovery work.
After several hours of effort, the bodies of both workers were recovered from the mine. The bodies were later handed over to their families for burial.
The Two killed incident has once again raised serious concerns about worker safety in coal mines. Lakhra coal mines have witnessed several accidents in recent years, causing the loss of many lives.
Local authorities have not yet shared details about what caused the accident. However, an investigation is expected to determine whether safety rules were followed.
This is not the first fatal incident at the Lakhra coal mine. In February this year, another miner lost his life in a similar accident. The worker, identified as Aftab Shah, belonged to Shangla district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He suffered severe injuries during a sudden mishap inside the mine. Despite rescue efforts, he could not survive.
The latest Two killed tragedy highlights the dangerous working conditions in coal mines across Pakistan. Workers and their families continue to face risks due to poor safety measures.
