The SBP (State Bank of Pakistan) has announced the advance schedule of Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meetings for the fiscal year 2026โ27. The central bank has also introduced new steps to improve transparency in monetary policy communication.
The updated calendar includes multiple MPC meetings from July 2026 to June 2027. Each meeting will be followed by key policy documents and updates shared with the public.
The SBP said the new framework is designed to make monetary policy decisions more transparent and easier to understand for stakeholders.
Under the revised plan, the number of post-MPC press conferences will increase from two to four per year. The SBP Governor will address the media after meetings held in July, October, January, and April.
Officials said this change will improve communication between the central bank and the public. It will also help explain policy decisions in a clearer way.
The SBP has also decided to publish analyst briefing presentations on its official website. These will be uploaded one day after each MPC meeting.
This step is aimed at providing deeper insight into how policy decisions are made. It is also expected to strengthen trust in the central bankโs data-driven approach.
In addition, the minutes of MPC meetings will now be released earlier. They will be published by the end of the fourth week after each meeting.
This change is part of efforts to streamline information sharing and improve policy transparency.
The SBP said these reforms are designed to strengthen monetary policy transmission in the economy. They are also part of preparations for a future inflation-targeting framework.
Officials believe the updated communication strategy will improve market understanding. It may also help stabilize economic expectations over time.
