The government of Iraq has announced new visa requirements for Pakistani pilgrims planning to visit the country for religious purposes. Authorities have urged all travelers and pilgrimage group organizers to carefully follow the updated regulations to avoid travel problems.
According to the new guidelines, individuals traveling alone on family visas will not be allowed to enter Iraq. Officials have also introduced age-related restrictions. Solo male pilgrims under the age of 50 will not be permitted to enter the country under the new rules.
The advisory highlights the importance of ensuring that all visa applications meet the required conditions before submission. Iraqi authorities have made it clear that visa fees will not be refunded if an application is rejected or if a traveler is denied entry upon arrival. Pilgrims are therefore advised to review all requirements carefully before making travel arrangements.
The statement also explains that a single visa cannot be used for both the Ashura and Arbaeen pilgrimages. Visitors planning to attend both religious events must obtain separate visas in accordance with the regulations.
In addition, Iraq has set a validity period of 30 days for the issued visas. Pilgrims must leave the country before their visa expires. Authorities warned that overstaying may result in serious consequences, including financial penalties, deportation, and even a lifetime ban from entering Iraq in the future.
Another important change concerns travel documents. Upon arrival, Pakistani pilgrims will be required to hand over their passports to Iraqi immigration authorities. The passports will remain in official custody during their stay in the country.
Officials have advised pilgrimage organizers to inform travelers about these updated requirements. They emphasized that compliance with visa rules is essential for a smooth and trouble-free journey.
