Iran has introduced a special Free Visa facility for Pakistani nationals who plan to attend the funeral and farewell ceremonies of late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The new Free Visa arrangement will allow eligible Pakistani travelers to apply for a 10-day visa without paying the usual visa fee. However, this does not mean visa-free travel.
Pakistani citizens must still complete the application process and receive approval before traveling to Iran. Officials have clarified that the waiver only covers the visa fee.
Applicants can apply through Iran’s official eVisa portal. They must choose the “Entry Visa” category and clearly mention that their visit is for funeral or mourning ceremonies.
To complete the Free Visa application, travelers need to submit several documents. These include a copy of their CNIC and proof of employment, business, or student status.
Applicants must also upload a recent passport-sized photograph with a white background. A clear mobile phone picture may also be accepted if it meets the required format.
A digital copy of the passport’s information page is also necessary. The passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of travel.
Officials have advised applicants to provide complete and accurate information in the online form. Incorrect details may cause delays or rejection.
The Free Visa facility does not remove the requirement for approval. Travelers must wait for confirmation before booking flights or making travel plans.
Current reports suggest that the special visa arrangement mainly applies to air travelers. Information for those entering through the Taftan border is still unclear.
Some reports also indicate that travelers may need separate travel or medical insurance. This means some extra costs may still apply.
Iran has urged Pakistani applicants to use only the official eVisa portal. Authorities also warned people to avoid agents claiming guaranteed approvals.
