Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly has approved a Supplementary Budget worth more than Rs121.47 billion to meet additional financial requirements during the current fiscal year. The approved funds will support development projects, improve public services, strengthen security, and cover urgent government expenditures across the province.
According to the approved figures, Rs50.49 billion has been allocated for current expenditures. Another Rs71.73 billion has been reserved for development projects under the provincial development programme. Officials said the Supplementary Budget is aimed at ensuring the continuation of important projects while addressing pressing financial needs.
A significant portion of the funding has been allocated to the Police Department, which will receive Rs7.53 billion. The Administration of Justice has been allocated Rs4.12 billion, while the Home Department will receive Rs1.38 billion. The Prisons Department has also been granted Rs514.1 million to support its operations.
The provincial government has allocated Rs7.5 billion for Local Councils. In addition, the Local Government Department will receive an extra Rs1.29 billion. These funds are expected to improve local governance and public services across different districts.
The Social Welfare Department has been allocated Rs4.43 billion under the approved budget. Relief activities will receive Rs7.35 billion to support emergency response and public assistance programmes. The merged districts have also been allocated an additional Rs3 billion to continue development and improve essential services.
The government has earmarked another Rs3 billion for debt servicing. Meanwhile, the Transport Department will receive Rs1.46 billion, while the Information Department has been allocated Rs706.5 million. Additional funds include Rs412.9 million for the Forests Department, Rs323.6 million for the Revenue Department, Rs791.9 million for the Administration Department, and Rs40.2 million for the Planning and Development Department.
Officials said the approved Supplementary Budget will help accelerate development work, strengthen law and order, improve public welfare programmes, and ensure uninterrupted government services across the province. The funding is also expected to support projects in the merged districts and other priority sectors.
The assembly also approved Rs49.89 billion under revised current expenditures alongside the Rs71.73 billion development allocation. These financial adjustments are intended to meet additional spending requirements without delaying ongoing development schemes.
