Etihad Rail has officially launched its much-awaited passenger train service in the United Arab Emirates. The new Etihad train service marks a major step in improving public transport and travel connectivity across the country.
The first Etihad passenger route connects Abu Dhabi to Fujairah. The service offers six trips every day, with three departures in each direction. Before the official launch, more than 10,000 tickets had already been sold, showing strong public interest.
To make travel easier, Etihad has also introduced a dedicated shuttle bus network for passengers. The shuttle buses connect travelers to the Abu Dhabi Mohamed Bin Zayed City Station.
Passengers can book a shuttle bus for Dh10 while purchasing their train ticket online. The shuttle service can only be booked together with a train ticket. Travelers must show a valid Etihad Rail ticket before boarding.
The shuttle buses operate from three main points in Abu Dhabi. These include ADNOC Headquarters, ADNEC Centre, and Reem Mall. These routes are designed to improve access to the main station.
For passengers traveling to the station, buses leave at different times during the day. Similar return services are also available after train arrivals. This system is expected to make commuting more convenient.
Etihad Rail is offering two travel classes for passengers. These are Comfort Class and Premium Class.
Comfort Class tickets start at Dh55. This class includes reserved seating, free Wi-Fi, power outlets, and luggage space.
Premium Class starts from Dh120. It includes all Comfort Class features, along with wider seats and free refreshments during the journey.
Passengers can also choose between Saver, Value, and Flex fare options. Saver offers the lowest prices. Value allows seat selection and ticket changes for an extra Dh10. Flex adds refund options for another Dh20.
Etihad Rail said passengers can book tickets through its official website or mobile app. Once booked, digital tickets will be available in the app and sent by email.
