International Business Class Tickets have become more affordable after the federal government reduced taxes on premium air travel. The revised tax rates came into effect on July 1, 2026, as part of the federal budget measures for the 2026โ27 fiscal year.
The new policy offers significant tax relief for passengers flying abroad in business class. However, the changes mainly benefit premium travelers, while economy class passengers will not receive the same level of direct financial relief.
Under the revised tax structure, travelers purchasing Business Class Tickets for flights to the United States, Canada and South America can receive tax reductions of up to Rs50,000 per ticket.
Passengers flying to Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, Russia and Hong Kong will also benefit from lower taxes. The government has reduced taxes on these routes by up to Rs40,000 for eligible business class passengers.
Travelers heading to regional destinations will also see savings under the updated policy. Those flying to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and other nearby countries can receive tax relief of up to Rs25,000 on their premium tickets.
Officials said the revised tax rates are intended to reduce the overall cost of international business class travel. The measure is expected to provide financial relief for thousands of passengers who regularly travel overseas.
Frequent business travelers are likely to benefit the most from the new policy. Overseas Pakistanis who often travel in premium cabins may also experience noticeable savings on international flights.
Although the decision lowers travel costs for premium passengers, it does not directly reduce fares for economy class travelers. Most people who travel on standard tickets are unlikely to see immediate benefits from the revised tax policy.
The government introduced the changes as part of its broader budget measures for the 2026โ27 financial year. Officials said the goal is to ease the financial burden of international travel for eligible passengers.
Industry observers believe the tax reductions could encourage more travelers to choose premium cabins on long-haul routes. Lower taxes may also make business travel more affordable for professionals who frequently fly abroad.
The updated rates apply only to international premium travel covered under the revised policy. Travelers are expected to benefit automatically through lower taxes included in the cost of eligible Business Class Tickets.
The government has described the tax reductions as one of the key travel-related measures announced in the latest federal budget. The policy is aimed at supporting international travelers while improving affordability in the premium travel segment.
The latest changes mark a significant adjustment to Pakistan’s international air travel tax structure. While Business Class Tickets will now cost less because of reduced taxes, the policy offers limited direct advantages for the majority of passengers who continue to travel in economy class.
