Pakistan and the European Country Croatia Agree to Speed Up Visa Facility and Expand Worker Opportunities
Pakistan and the European Country Croatia have agreed to speed up efforts to establish a Croatian visa processing facility in Islamabad. The new center will allow Pakistani citizens to apply for Croatian visas without traveling to another country.
The announcement was made by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar during a joint press conference in Islamabad. He addressed the media alongside Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Dr. Gordan Grliฤ Radman after their bilateral meeting.
According to Dar, both countries are working to complete the visa facility as soon as possible. He said the new center will provide major relief to Pakistani travelers. At present, many applicants must visit a third country to complete the Croatian visa process.
The decision is expected to make travel easier for students, tourists, business visitors, and professionals planning to visit the European Country. It will also reduce the time, cost, and inconvenience currently faced by Pakistani applicants.
During the talks, Dar also shared that Pakistan has started preparations to seek re-entry into the European Unionโs Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+). The new GSP+ framework is scheduled to begin in January 2027. Pakistan aims to qualify under the updated system to continue enjoying trade benefits with the European Union.
Both sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation in labor mobility. They discussed expanding legal opportunities for skilled Pakistani workers to work in Croatia. The move could create more employment options for qualified professionals seeking jobs in the European Country.
In addition, Pakistan and Croatia pledged to work together against human smuggling and irregular migration. The two governments agreed to improve coordination and support legal and safe migration channels.
The meeting also covered regional and global issues. Pakistan and Croatia reaffirmed their commitment to multilateral cooperation, the principles of the United Nations Charter, and the peaceful settlement of international disputes.
Dar said Croatia appreciated Pakistanโs constructive role at the United Nations Security Council. Both countries expressed their desire to further strengthen diplomatic relations and increase cooperation in trade, investment, education, and other sectors.
