Punjab CM Announces 100,000 Free Electric Bikes for Students Check Who Can Apply

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a major education initiative that includes the distribution of 100,000 free Electric Bikes for students across the province. The scheme aims to make education more accessible by helping students overcome transportation challenges.

The announcement was made during a ceremony in Arifwala. Along with the bike scheme, the Punjab government introduced several education-focused projects designed to support students and reduce the financial burden on families.

The free Electric Bikes initiative is expected to benefit thousands of students who travel long distances to attend schools, colleges, and universities. Many students face transport issues that affect their attendance and academic performance. The government believes the new scheme will provide a safer and more reliable travel option.

Officials also said the project supports Punjab’s efforts to promote environmentally friendly transportation. Alongside the bike scheme, the government plans to expand its network of electric buses dedicated to students. These buses are expected to offer comfortable, affordable, and eco-friendly travel throughout the province.

Speaking at the event, the chief minister said the Punjab government is responsible for the welfare of nearly 130 million citizens. She added that improving education remains one of the government’s top priorities. According to her, providing transport facilities can help students continue their education without unnecessary difficulties.

The Electric Bikes scheme is part of a broader education reform package. The Punjab government has also announced the distribution of 100,000 laptops for deserving students. In addition, 50,000 merit-based scholarships will be offered to support higher education.

The government has also allocated Rs40 billion to improve public schools across Punjab. The funds will be used to build new classrooms and upgrade educational infrastructure.

Another major announcement is the establishment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) labs in educational institutions. These labs aim to provide students with access to modern technology and help prepare them for future careers in emerging industries.

Although the scheme has been officially announced, registrations have not yet started. The government has not released the official application schedule, selection process, or final eligibility criteria. Students are advised to wait for an official notification before applying.

Once the registration process begins, applications are expected to be submitted through the CM e-Bikes Scheme Portal and the official Punjab Government website.

Students are advised to keep the required documents ready to avoid delays. These documents may include a CNIC or B-Form, Punjab domicile, student ID card or enrollment certificate, a recent passport-size photograph, and a learner’s permit or valid motorcycle driving licence if required under the final policy.

Based on previous CM e-Bike schemes, applicants are expected to be regular students enrolled in recognized educational institutions in Punjab. They may also need to be at least 18 years old and meet any licensing requirements announced by the government.
