The Punjab government has officially announced the implementation of the Basic Pay Scales (BPS) 2026 for provincial Govt Employees. The revised pay scales will take effect from 1 July 2026. The government has also approved a 3.5% increase in pensions for eligible civil pensioners.
According to notifications issued by the Punjab Finance Department, all serving Govt Employees who are currently receiving salaries under Basic Pay Scales 2022 will be shifted to the newly introduced Basic Pay Scales 2026. Their salaries will be fixed under the revised pay structure from the effective date.
The Finance Department said the updated pay scales are part of the government’s efforts to implement the latest salary structure for provincial employees. Departments across Punjab have been instructed to apply the revised scales according to the official notification.
The government also confirmed that the annual increment system will remain unchanged. Govt Employees will continue to receive their yearly salary increment on 1 December, following the existing service rules. No changes have been made to the current increment schedule.
Along with the new pay scales, the Punjab government has approved a 3.5% increase in net pension for eligible civil pensioners. The pension increase will apply to those who retired before 1 July 2026.
Officials clarified that the increase will be calculated on the net pension, excluding the medical allowance. This means the medical allowance will not be included while determining the revised pension amount.
However, employees who retire on or after 1 July 2026 will not qualify for this pension increase. The notification clearly states that the benefit is only available to pensioners who retired before the effective date.
The Punjab Finance Department also confirmed that the pension increase will extend to family pensions and other eligible pension categories. These payments will be revised according to the prescribed government rules and regulations.
All government departments, offices, and institutions have been directed to implement the revised pay scales and pension increase without delay. The Finance Department has instructed relevant authorities to ensure the new salary and pension structure is applied from 1 July 2026.
