Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has issued strict instructions for MDCAT 2026. The test is scheduled for September 20.
PMDC has directed universities and provincial authorities to ensure a fair and secure examination process. Officials have also been told to maintain complete transparency at all test centres.
Over 138,000 Candidates Registered
According to PMDC, 138,158 candidates have registered for the medical and dental entrance examination.
The test will take place in 35 cities and towns across Pakistan. An examination centre will also operate in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The large number of candidates has increased the need for effective arrangements at testing centres.
PMDC Calls for Strict Security
PMDC President Prof Dr Rizwan Taj issued the instructions during a meeting with university vice chancellors and provincial representatives.
He stressed the importance of protecting the integrity and confidentiality of the examination.
Authorities must introduce strict security measures to prevent irregularities. They must also ensure that examination material remains secure throughout the process.
Universities and provincial authorities will oversee the on-ground management of MDCAT. They will also be responsible for maintaining transparency at examination centres.
Facilities Required at Examination Centres
PMDC has directed authorities to provide proper seating arrangements for candidates.
Security personnel must also be available at examination centres. Medical support and emergency services should remain accessible during the test.
Special arrangements will be introduced to assist candidates and their parents or guardians.
These measures aim to provide a safe and organized environment during the examination.
Previous MDCAT Controversies Raise Concerns
The latest instructions come after concerns about previous entrance examinations.
The Pakistan Medical Association had raised concerns over controversies linked to earlier tests. These included allegations of paper leaks and administrative irregularities.
PMDC’s latest measures aim to strengthen confidence in the examination process and prevent similar issues.
AJK Students Face Registration Difficulties
Officials in Azad Jammu and Kashmir have also highlighted registration problems affecting some students.
The difficulties were linked to a prolonged internet shutdown in the region. Limited internet access reportedly created challenges for candidates completing the registration process.
PMDC has assured AJK officials that possible assistance will be considered for affected students.
With September 20 approaching, authorities are now preparing examination centres across the country. PMDC expects all responsible bodies to follow the required procedures.
