Energy Minister Muhammad Ali recently met with Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar to discuss the situation following widespread complaints of inflated electricity bills. During their meeting, they explored various options to provide relief to power consumers.
Today, a session is scheduled to take place, attended by representatives from the Ministry of Water and Power and power distribution companies, where the final decision on relief measures is expected to be reached.
The caretaker prime minister stressed the importance of implementing measures that do not burden the national exchequer while ensuring convenience for consumers. He also urged the presentation of power sector reforms and short, medium, and long-term plans at the earliest convenience. Additionally, he requested comprehensive details regarding the officers and institutions benefiting from free electricity.
As part of the ongoing discussions, a detailed consultation on the issue of excessive July bills and the implementation of energy-saving measures will be held with provincial chief ministers tomorrow.
